Architecture & Monumental Art
Across the Former Socialist Bloc
Small-group research expeditions led by BACU's heritage listing specialists — the people who documented these sites in the first place.

The B.A.C.U. Association has spent more than a decade documenting the architectural and monumental art heritage of the socialist period — cataloguing, photographing, and campaigning for the listing of buildings across Eastern Europe and beyond.
We now organise guided research tours throughout the former socialist bloc, taking small groups to the sites we know best. These are working expeditions, not sightseeing trips: architectural interpretation on-site, access to interiors that aren't normally open, and the time to photograph and document properly.
This isn't a coach tour. Working in small numbers means we can move quickly, access sites that larger groups simply can't, and adapt the programme as opportunities arise on the ground.
We organise tours across the entire former socialist bloc — from the Baltic states to the Balkans, from Central Europe to the Caucasus and Central Asia. Tell us where your interest lies and we will build the programme around it.
Tell us where you would like to go and what you are interested in.
We will put together a programme and a quote.
